Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, a proud Title I campus, we’ve recently celebrated achieving the prestigious Gold Ribbon status. This honor reflects our unwavering commitment to providing excellent education under challenging circumstances. Our students have particularly shone in STEM, where they proudly became the nation’s top competitive drone team. Their enthusiasm and dedication to pushing the boundaries of what they can achieve with technology is truly inspiring.

Seeing their passion for drones, I am driven to expand this program further by introducing more sophisticated drones and exposing them to potential careers that utilize this exciting technology.

I plan to integrate First-Person View (FPV) drones into our lessons, which will allow students to explore real-world applications like monitoring deforestation and tracking the migration of doves. These practical exercises will show them how drones can play a crucial role in environmental conservation and science.

Additionally, these advanced drones will provide a new hands-on component to their education, similar to what they experience in robotics class. They will not only build and tweak these drones but also understand their extensive applications in various fields. This initiative is about more than just learning how to operate drones; it’s about opening doors to future opportunities and enhancing their skills for the ever-evolving technological landscape. By enriching our drone program, we aim to inspire our students and equip them with the tools they need for successful careers in technology and beyond.
