This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are four years old. For many this is their first time in school. They are primarily English language learners. They are excited and love learning.
Young children learn best through hands-on activities and play.
My students learn letters, numbers, colors, and thematic topics by working together and having fun. Our school just opened and due to budgetary issues lacks many materials necessary in order to run a rich classroom environments. Often we are limited due to lack of resources.
My Project
My class loves art and loves to paint. However, we have not received supplies in some time. Painting is a daily part of our class. The children paint at the easel, choose to add paint to crafts they create, and use paint for special projects.
The children have been studying important artists in relation to our thematic curriculum and using their work as inspiration for their own art.
During our unit on light we looked at Starry Night; during our water unit we studied Water Lilies; currently we are learning about plants and exploring the works of Georgia O'Keeffe. The children learn about the artists' technique and their color palette. This helps them to grow as artists.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
