My students are dedicated, motivated, hard working future medical assistants. In coming to our school, each student chooses a vocational path in their freshman year that they will maintain through their high school career.
All of the students in my classes are on the path to becoming Certified Clinical Medical Assistants by the end of their Senior year.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences, but are unified in their goals to better the prospects for their lives and become certified as Clinical Medical Assistants. They come to school excited about learning every day, and I hope that through this project, we will be able to see additional examples of where their certification can take them!
Through this project, students will be exposed to the history of medicine through the eyes of the field museum at the Civil War Medicine Museum. They will have the opportunity to visualize and actively participate in the differences between past medical practices and current, modern technology.
Students will participate in a hands-on lab that simulates both past, Civil War-era medicine and compares it directly with the modern medical treatments offered today.
By attending this trip, my students will have a better grasp of the progress of the medical field and will be able to understand the roots of the medical profession, which is key to their understanding and future professions as Certified Clinical Medical Assistants.
