My Students

My school is nestled in the southern banks of the Ohio River, with my hometown just minutes away. The students at my school, and in my classroom, are so extremely special to me. I currently teach in a fourth grade self-contained classroom. I have subbed and taught at so many schools in the area but have seen such kindness and generosity in these kids. I try to cultivate this in my classroom with a series of lessons and projects focused toward this goal, as well as reading success. Pairing their social-emotional well-being with their love of reading has been a huge triumph, in and out of the classroom!

These kids go out of their way to help each other, and jump at the opportunity for growth and new understanding of topics.

Without some technological resources at hand in our district, educators such as myself find unique ways to facilitate understanding, while preparing the students for their 21st-century demands. Students of this era are well aware of technology and yearn for a chance to branch out creatively. This is what I want to be able to give the students in my classroom.

My Project

The use of these four Chromebooks in the classroom would open up a world of opportunities for my students, and all of the students in the fourth grade in my school district. In our grade level, we do several research projects throughout the year that the students must research much of at home. With the help of these Chromebooks, students without internet access at home would feel much more comfortable during center time, being able to complete their research in the classroom. I also would love the chance to give students time to work on math programs during their down time to increase their understanding of topics covered ruing whole group instruction.

In this century, it seems like everyone has access to technology, but in my school we do not have access to these amenities; with your help we can change that!

The materials I am requesting are four Chromebooks. This may seem like a daunting thing to ask for, but it is just something we do not have access to. By donating to this project, you will not only be assisting my classroom but also the other classrooms in my hallway. This is something that could be shared among the teachers during different periods of the day. This would also assist with our floor's resource teacher and the aide in my own classroom.
