Help me give my students the opportunity to learn about all different types of careers and community helpers. The farmers market and puppet show theater are great resources for them to play different community helpers.
Each day I get to walk into a classroom of students that are from all over the world. They each bring something different to the classroom. They all are at different stages in their English language development, and that brings a new and different perspective to the classroom. I love working with such a diverse population.
Getting to teach in a school where we embrace diversity and are proud of it makes me love my job even more; getting to teach a group of students that can challenge me in my way of teaching makes me excited to try new things and think outside the box to figure out how they best learn.
I love that I am always looking for new ways to challenge them and engage them in their learning. When I challenge them, they are more engaged in the learning process, and school isn't such a chore for them.
My Project
These materials will be excellent resources for my students to use throughout the school year. We will be learning about different community helpers and what they do. The student will be able to dress up like them and role play being those helpers.
Being able to have a farmers market and a puppet theater in our classroom would help my students to expand their horizons on what kinds of careers they may want to have in the future.
Also having dress up clothes of different careers gives them the opportunity to role play and discover what it might be like to be a community helper.
Having books to read about different careers will give up another way of having conversations about careers and our community helps.
