My Students

In first grade we are creating students who will be ready for their future!
The students at my school are a mixed group of amazing first graders.
They range in ability level from far below grade level to way above grade level. The students in my class attend a charter school where we work on educating the whole child with hands on, interactive learning where we use the city as our classroom.
My Project
The financial literacy centers in this proposal will help my students (and the rest of the first graders, which is around 90 students), learn more about financial literacy at a young age. Currently in our Social Studies curriculum (and right now in the school year) the first graders learn about needs and wants, goods and services and producers and consumers (along with watching commercials to figure out what they're producing and who the consumer would be). We're currently working on a service learning project, so the students can learn more about financial literacy by being a part of a fundraising project. These financial literacy centers will be used to enrich our unit through more hands on practice along with picture clues and vocabulary enrichment.
In order to further our learning about financial literacy in first grade, we're looking to gain these centers which supplement our learning and help the students fully understand the concepts that we're teaching them.
