My Project

Goals of the Concession Stand Project

The primary goal of this concession stand project is to provide students with hands-on experience in business operations while fostering financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills.

By managing the concession stand, students will learn key business concepts such as inventory management, budgeting, pricing, and customer service. This real-world application of business principles will help them develop decision-making skills, teamwork, and responsibility. Additionally, the revenue generated will support school initiatives, contributing to a self-sufficient and sustainable program.

What Makes the Students Special?

The students participating in this project are unique because they come from diverse backgrounds and may not otherwise have access to practical business experiences. Many of them thrive in hands-on learning environments and benefit from experiential opportunities beyond traditional classroom instruction. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to learn set them apart, as they take ownership of their roles and gain confidence in their abilities. This project empowers them with valuable life skills that will serve them beyond their school years, whether in future business ventures, careers, or personal financial management.

How Will the Concession Stand Make a Difference in Student Learning?

The concession stand will transform learning by bridging the gap between theory and practice. Instead of solely learning about business principles in textbooks, students will actively engage in operating a real business. They will handle transactions, calculate profits and expenses, and adapt to real-time challenges. This hands-on approach reinforces math, communication, and problem-solving skills in a meaningful way. Furthermore, the concession stand promotes teamwork, accountability, and leadership, giving students a sense of pride and accomplishment. Ultimately, this project will prepare them for future financial independence and career readiness while benefiting the school community.
