I teach high school art at Title I school with a large group of hard-working and talented artists! Working in a Title I school is a unique experience. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, a Title I school means it has a certain percentage of students who are at-risk, often living at or below the poverty line. At-risk students are those “considered to be in danger of not graduating, being promoted, or meeting other education-related goals.”
My students come to class excited to create and express themselves.
They love working with their hands and creating art.
My Project
While not all entrepreneurs are artists, all artists are entrepreneurs. I’ve always been a firm believer that if you love to do something and it makes you happy, you should find a practical way to use it to your advantage. Whether that means it makes you money, it makes your daily life easier, it gives you an outlet for expression
My students are learning about becoming young entrepreneurs.
This will provide the hands on experience that they will need to make connections between school and the real-world.
Students will understand basic marketing and sales prices, form/media, and what it is to create signature style. The will use the press to make personalized items as well as the same for the mug press.
This will be the opportunity of a life-time for them.
