Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever seen your future staring back at you everyday? That's what I see in the eyes of my students; I see our future leaders. However, my students do not see how bright their futures are because their vision is limited due to their circumstances. I teach in a very economically disadvantaged part of Houston, Texas. In a place where students aren't exposed to success, they see their parents and where they live and think that is all life has in store for them. I want them to believe in themselves just as I believe in them I want them to go to college. I want them to be doctors. I want them to dream.
Although I teach all subjects, I find that most of my students struggle in the areas of math and science. Sometimes when a child struggles in one or two areas it causes them to lose self-confidence.
I want to have a science lab for my 23 students. I want to start a science club. I want them to become excited about everything about science. Astrology, Biology, and Anatomy!!! I want them to become fascinated with why things happen, I want them to become inspired. I want them to forget where they live now and reach for their future.
