Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Many of my students enjoy watching the CSI shows and always make comments about the process the CSI agents take to solve the murder mysteries. There comments intrigued me to teach a forensics science class for next school year.
I will be working with 6th, 7th and 8th grade special education students in an inner city school.
Many of the students read below grade level and some do not enjoy reading a book. However, since my students truly enjoy watching the CSI shows, I want to engage them in hands on activities to encourage them to enjoy reading about the forensic process of solving murder mysteries.
My Project
The fingerprinting simulation kit, CSI kit and hands on forensic activities will stimulate my students to truly enjoy the class by role playing and acting as CSI agents to solve murder mysteries. The visual and kinesthetic activities that I will provide in the class will hopefully inspire my students to read murder mystery books or any other genre, just as long as they pick a book and read it.
Help me reach out to my students to let them know that science and reading go hand in hand.
Help me motivate my students to continue furthering their education so that they too can aspire to be CSI agents and not just watch actors role play on television.
