This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My student are the four year olds that take on many challenges in their daily home lives and come to school to a safe place to expand their knowledge and share their new learning with their peers, parents family and friends. In a world full of challenges, my students learn to persevere and expand their learning. They are in my class to learn at their own level some may be struggling to hold a pencil to try to write while other are ready to learn to read, retell stories and begin to write down their ideas. This is such an exciting year for my student and first positive educational experience is critical for my students to have a positive outlook of education. We are establishing the foundation of our future leader.
My Project
I will be giving my students a weekly journal write. In the beginning they will be illustrations with a few letters or marks to show their writing. Then they will illustrate their prompt and copy a word from the board.Eventually they will create their own story of their choice. On Fridays they take their story home to share with at least two people. Journal writing take away the writing anxiety students get when they struggle to write. My students’ journal are a safe place to write and draw at their best!
