Future Author and Illustrators

Help me give my students BOOKS! We just completed a study on Christian Robinson. My students were so excited to read his stories and see themselves as illustrators. We need to keep books like these in our class!

My Students

In my class, we are always working on becoming lifelong learners who are excited about knowledge! We are the youngest learners at an incredibly diverse school. We come from many different backgrounds and speak so many different languages! We may be 4 years old, but our future is already so bright!

My students are coming to school for the very first time.

They are so eager to learn and engage with their peers! The best part of working with my students is that they all accept and love each other regardless of all their differences.

My Project

Our little PreK friends just finished an illustrator study on Christian Robinson. They LOVED reading his books! It was amazing to see how they were able to connect to what an illustrator does, who our illustrator is (they were so cute to remember him by name!), and for them to see themselves as illustrators.

My favorite part of this study is that my kids could literally see THEMSELVES as illustrators.

Christian Robinson's books are inclusive and cover a wide variety of social-emotional skills and he just happens to be a person of color. My kids were able to see themselves reflected in not just the story, but in who told us the story.

Christian Robinson is just one amazing author/illustrator that we need in our classroom. Next up is an author study on Donald Crews! Our little PreK friends also always need access to books about diverse families, friends, and things around them.
