Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The engineering design process is all about testing, redesigning, and rethinking the best possible solution to a problem. This project will give students three remote-controlled gliders with different wing sizes to test with specific criteria (distance, targets, and obstacles).

After testing the remote control gliders, gathering the data, and analyzing and interpreting this information we will decide the best glider to use as our model and build student gliders in the classroom.

We will then retest our handmade gliders to see if we can recreate the RC glider's results using the same criteria. It should be a really great learning experience and engineering challenge for my Math, Science, and Engineering students (MESA).

This project should motivate STEM students to quickly engage in the Engineering Design Process by providing students with a pre-made successful RC glider. I think by starting with a good model, we may be more successful in building our own gliders.
