Furthering the Education of Future Dental Professionals
Help me give my students alginate mixers, lab handpiece motors and other dental educational supplies to help further their knowledge of real world supplies used in the dental office.
I teach a CTE class on dental assisting. My students come from all the local high schools in my district and surrounding districts. Many of my students have wanted to work in the dental field for a long time, while some of them are just exploring. The students are eager to be in the class.
I think my love of dentistry shines through and gets the students even MORE excited than when they began the class.
It is my hope that my students love dentistry as much as myself.
My Project
The dental models will be used for students to practice placing dental dams and to learn dental tooth anatomy and morphology. The dental lab materials (vibrator, lab handpieces/motors, curing light, and alginate mixers) are items that dental assistants are exposed to every day in the dental office. The scissors will be used when we practice removing sutures on chicken drumsticks.
With these supplies, my students will become more proficient and more employable as a dental assistant by being able to use these items.
There are a total of 30 students in each class and with the addition of these items, it will help to eliminate the wait times when using the supplies we currently have in the classroom.
