Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When you walk into my classroom, you will see students that span across the Autism spectrum - some cannot speak, some only use a few words, and some talk in full sentences - but the one thing they have in common is their enthusiasm to be in school. My students all have varying strengths, and often surprise visitors with the skills they possess despite their diagnoses. Every one of my students is unique and we work hard to meet their specific needs.
My Project
My students with Autism need extra structure in their routine and classroom environment. I work hard to create a positive learning environment for my students which includes creating separate, clearly defined work spaces. Different sized furniture like the tables requested will help set up my classroom for the highest efficiency, and dividers will be used to help differentiate the areas of learning in my classroom. These dividers also help my students with Autism focus on their work and lessens other distractions. When my students are in the appropriate environment for them they are able to thrive in the school setting and make great progress!
