This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have 19 remarkable students who love to listen to a story from someone other than their teacher. They love to grab a chair and listen to a great story in our listening center.
I am requesting a mobile literacy center that will allow them to find a cozy place on the carpet to listen to a great story.
The children will be able to build their vocabulary and fluency, listen to good interpretive reading, and be exposed to a variety of story structures all from the comfort our classroom library! This mobile literacy center will allow up to six kids to sit and read together versus our current table for two. Listening to audio books teaches critical listening skills, introduces new genres, and allows students to enjoy books above their reading level. Audio books help all students, in particular those who are learning English and those reading below grade level, have access to and appreciation of rich literature.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
