My Students

We are a close group of individuals, working hard to establish a community of strong learners and citizens. In our classroom, we have a total of 19 students with different strengths and room to grow. We focus a lot of our time on self reflection and ways to grow as not only students, but members of our school and community. We are still getting to know one another, as I have joined them mid-year, but they have opened up to me so much in this little amount of time. From the opening journal prompt, to our smooth station time, and ending the day by awarding the daily "Awesome Student" award, our small class's motivation and willingness to achieve is growing more and more each day.

My Project

For this project, I asked for three things to help my students: First is a set of stools for the classroom. In my room, there are not many different types of seating, and I have learned that having a stool can keep students occupied and keep them from moving around the room. This also provides a break from the standard back chairs.

These materials make all the difference for a population of students that have little resources at home.

As it stands, I have a strong and slowly updating classroom library. However, my students are not as interested in trying new books. I would like to use the book rack as a display in the front of the room for good books/ seasonal books.

Lastly, with the many, many STEM activities we do in Science, as well as the many anchor charts we make in all subjects, there is a lot of tape used to hold things together. This is a necessity in our classroom!
