This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher, I have the privilege to guide and teach students with a wide variety of knowledge, life experiences, and unique personalities that cannot be replicated. My students come from a wide variety of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, with the majority of them residing in the west side of Chicago. The students rely on school-owned instruments and resources, as 95% of my students do not own an instrument or have access to outside programs for music.
Despite the circumstances, these facts do not stop these young minds from putting forth their best efforts into the newly developing music program.
My students have committed themselves to musical excellence, developing their musicianship and pushing themselves to sharpen their musical talents and abilities. It is my goal to give these students the necessary tools to help them succeed not only at the high school level, but potentially prepare them for the collegiate music level. Above all else, I would love to provide my students with the best experience that I have to offer here. And with your contribution, you will give our music program the necessary instruments, and equipment to help our program grow!
My Project
With the help of many donors and consistent fundraising, our school has been building our new Modern Band Program prosperously and efficiently. With access to new and repaired instruments, my students have been able to utilize the instruments that we do have during classroom periods to excel in their musical abilities and versatility.
Because of our increased accessibility to classroom instruments, students have shown a drastic increase in motivation and practice during school, before school, and after school.
As we are making our instruments accessible to the students of Prosser, we are falling short in instrumentation for electric basses. With over 300 music students, we want to make sure that every class period has enough basses for our students to use for effective and motivational practice. They are deserving of the use of an electric bass that will allow them to continue their musical growth and versatility. Please help and support them by donating to this project!
