Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A classroom is full of diverse academic needs and learning levels for each student. Providing a classroom library that reaches a wide range of reading levels will encourage my students to build on their learning and continue to grow. Opportunities and options are extremely important to help foster a positive reading experience. When students can find a book that interests them at a level that they can read, it allows them to grow.
As a classroom teacher, my goal is to work with students and their families and together we can create a culture of belonging that empowers every student to achieve academic excellence.
These various book sets are great small chapter book collections that reach reading levels for students in beginning second grade all the way to fifth grade. These books are engaging, fun, and readable for lots of diverse readers. One of the most important things to remember about teaching is that students need to have the ability to succeed. Through that success, students become motivated to continue learning. You will notice most sets have a quantity of two. This will encourage my students to work on their reading fluency with a partner by reading out loud/following along.
Our goal is to help students get out of their comfort zone and to pick up chapter books instead of picture books. These "chewable chapter books" are just the right size for students! They are easy to complete cover to cover.
