This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a group of amazing students that look, act, and think very similar to myself. We are a classroom full of dreamers and visionaries. Together we create a safe space that is full of questioning the norm, finding math in interesting ways, and exploring the use of math in our own worlds.

My students are mathematicians that are willing to use whatever they have to get the work and job done.

They are creative, curious and relentless in their pursuit of a quality education.

My Project

My kiddos are always interested in learning with new tools and being able to demonstrate their learning in different ways. I want them to be able to draw, solve and maneuver math problems by using their whiteboards and markers.

I also have noticed growing up and being in the classroom that food can be a huge reason for students to lack participation in class.

I am often feeding students to ensure they have something in their stomach prior to motivating them to learn math. I think that by providing food and writing tools we are showing up with basic items that will help our students to learn and have a more equitable education.
