My Project
Our school is a small, K-8 charter school in Minneapolis, MN. Last year, through funding from DonorsChoose, we were able to provide students in 6th-8th grade with the opportunity to read the graphic novel March (Part 1) by John Lewis. Our students loved this graphic novel and are looking forward to reading March Part 2 this school year.
Your donations will help our scholars to further their exploration of the Civil Rights Movement, as well as allowing students additional insight into Japanese Internment Camps during WWII and the lives of the people forced inside.
In addition to "March (Part 2)", and since our 8th grade students were very invested in the "Diary of Anne Frank" last year, we are hoping to secure copies of "They Called Us Enemy," by George Takei. This book will help our scholars understand more about Japanese Internment Camps in the U.S. during World War II and will help our students to further understand the current situation in the U.S. today.
