My Students
We live in a modern time where the world seems to run on technology, and this is what students have come to expect. To be successful, my students need tools that will engage them in a powerful way. An iPad would fulfill this need perfectly! The case will protect the iPad.
I teach in a large, inner city school district.
A large majority of my students struggle with poverty and live in high crime neighborhoods. I teach 150 students with diverse learning strengths and needs. The vast majority of my students are 11th grade juniors preparing for the ACT, a test that is used to determine an applicant's general educational development, as well as their ability to be successful in college courses. My students are motivated to learn and eager to succeed. Some of my students have learning disabilities and need visual and auditory aids to better learn math concepts. The majority of my students come from working-class families. Their parents do not have the time or are not able to assist them in strengthening their math skills. Regardless of these challenges, my students are capable of learning and excelling in math with the assistance of the right tools.
My Project
My students need an iPad, with the necessary accessories, to make learning fun while incorporating technology. Research shows that students learn better when you show them an idea, a concept, an image, than when you just tell them about it. Once I connect it to a projector, the new iPad will allow me to present images and videos to make math concepts more easy to understand. It will also allow my students to interact kinetically with math apps while their classmates watch and learn. The new iPad is an invaluable tool for learning, and your generosity can insure we have one to and so that future juniors will be able to benefit from it as well.
The new iPad is a tool for universal access.
It will allow all of my students, even those with learning disabilities, to have a better understanding of the mathematics we will encounter in our classroom.
Every student deserves the best education, with the best resources and materials, regardless of where they live. My group of college bound juniors are no different. Please help me give this to my class!
