My Students

I am always focusing on my students abilities instead of their disabilities. My students are 4th through 6th grade with various disablities from mild to severe. Disabilities range from Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Specific Learning Disabilities, and other genetic or intellectual disabilities.

My students each have unique individual abilities and needs that I work to address and support each and every day.

Supporting their needs, whether they are academic, social, sensory or other, is necessary to their success in my classroom.

My Project

All of these products will allow my students more access to various functional, pre-vocational, and life skills training.

The Pre-Vocational Work Skill training sets are each individually leveled and progressively build upon skills that help build simple work skills, work hardening, and attention to detail.

These training sets work on fine motor, sorting, counting, and production. They also help build self-esteem when they complete a task. The Safety Survival Kit and Menu Math Kit will allow my students to work on functional skills such as understanding various community signs and their function, as well as money skills when ordering foods. Many of my students are not aware of the reason signs are placed around our community. They will learn direction, safety, and guidance, building confidence as they access the community. Menu math will help build money skills such as dollar-up, Do I have enough?, and making change. The dress boards support life skills in the area of dressing, fine motor, and various processing challenges my students have.

All of these products will allow my students to build upon their current skills and increase their ability to access the world around them with confidence.
