Functional Small Group Table for Guided Reading

Help me give my students a functional small group table for the best differentiated learning experience for guided reading.

My Students

My students are amazing and are eager to learn. In the first grade, they are learning their basic foundations that will help them be successful in their future. They are learning how to read, write and basic math skills.

Our school has a majority of the students who receive free and reduced price lunch and we don't have a lot of technology in our school for the lower elementary grades.

Technology is always exciting and my students talk about playing games at their house or their friends and how excited they are when they get to use a phone or iPad.

My Project

Students need a new table for their individualized guided reading. Students are instructed in a small (3-5) student setting during guided reading. We currently have a table that does not function well. Students need a table that accommodates for all students in the small group and one that is sturdy and doesn't wobble when we are all working on writing.

As a teacher, I am able to focus on the individual needs of the student by creating these small instructional groups.

This small group table will be an important tool in facilitating much needed individual and group support in reading.
