My classroom is unique, and I teach a life skills class. Each of my students is gifted in their own beautiful ways. My students have learning difficulties, but they are amazing, incredible learners.
Our classroom is set up differently than most classrooms to better meet the needs of our students.
In my classroom, we do stations so that my students are in very small groups. In this way, we are better able to meet the needs of each learner.
My classroom focuses on academic learning, but also provides students the opportunities to develop and practice necessary life skills. Developing these skills early helps to promote success for my students.
My Project
In my classroom, students rotate between station activities. One of these stations is task boxes. Task boxes allow students to follow visual directions to find their set of boxes and work independently on the skills in the box.
The fishing for sight words game will allow students with goals of sight words to practice reading their sight words in a fun and engaging way.
The magnetic descriptive words rods will allow students who have goals of identifying physical properties like hot and cold to have a hands on way to practice this skill.
The magnetic sequencing rods will provide my students the opportunity to have visuals of various stories and allow students to practice sequencing the events. Finally, the launch and learn alphabet game will provide my sweet students who are working on matching uppercase and lowercase letters a unique way to practice this skill.
