My Students

Remember when science was fun and you couldn't wait to tell your friends what you were learning in science today? Now imagine that your teacher would like to show you cool stuff- but doesn't have the supplies necessary to do it.

My students are a diverse mix of 106 9th grade students.

Their middle school years are behind them and they are continuing to adjust as high school students. They each learn in their own way and I often have to "meet them where they are." I devote hours of my day motivating them and proving to them, just how important science is. Many of them come into school fully energized to learn but most still need that extra bit of motivation from me!

My Project

My students' engagement in my lessons is strongest when I perform demonstrations and allow them to participate in hands-on activities. We are approaching our unit on heat and electricity. The digital multimeters will allow my students to conduct activities related to remote sensing, and the Nasco electricity pack will provide tons of activities with circuitry. The power of electricity cannot be underestimated!

All students should have the opportunity to become ENGAGED in a lesson.

The materials that I have requested will allow me to do that. Science is not supposed to be boring, it's made to be mind-bending. Donations made to my project will help my students form inquiry skills and memories of science they won't soon forget!
