This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I want to express my gratitude for your support in our phonics instruction efforts! Many of my students begin the school year not speaking English, and those who do often lack foundational knowledge of letters and sounds. My students are special because although they don't have foundational skills yet, they are excited to learn and proud as they begin sharing their knowledge of letters and sounds. Phonics instruction is vital for all students as we lay the foundation for reading!
What I love about my students is their eagerness to explore, make discoveries, and share what they've learned, regardless of their starting point.
The Alphabet Mystery Box is a fun and engaging game to introduce them to letters and sounds. It teaches children how letters represent sounds and how those sounds come together to form words, which is essential for decoding new words and reading fluently. I am excited to use the materials in this project.
Because phonics instruction is critical to developing readers, I have chosen engaging, hands-on games that foster a positive classroom environment. Observing the joy my students experience as they begin identifying letters and sounds is truly rewarding.
