This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love phonics in my classroom, and I've seen how it's helped my students enormously as they develop their foundational literacy skills! All these materials will go towards my phonics curriculum. The writing boards are especially important, as they give students a fun and tactile way to practice their letters and spellings. The folders and seat sacks will be used for extra storage, as my small classroom has trouble fitting all these exciting new pieces of curriculum!
Research has demonstrated the importance of direct phonics instruction, but it can be difficult to make that fun and engaging.
This is especially true as I have many multilingual learners in my classroom who are just beginning to learn English. These students benefit from kinesthetic ways of accessing the content, and extremely purposeful and structured phonics instruction. All these materials will contribute to this goal.
I hope these writing boards help my students get excited about writing and practicing their literacy skills! Thank you for considering supporting my classroom, and ensuring my students can read and access the knowledge they need to grow and succeed.
