This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Special Education teacher in a Title One priority school, which means that there is very little funding, yet we have a high need for materials to support instruction. 100% of the students in our district receive free lunch and breakfast. My kindergarten and first grade students are full of joy, excitement, and an eagerness for learning. I have so much fun teaching and learning with them. They have unique personalities, and they're all very sweet and caring toward others. Their disabilities include Autism, learning disabled, speech and language impaired, and etc.

My students are endearing kindergarten and first graders that are very eager to learn and grow.

They are all at different ability levels depending on their backgrounds and experiences in life. More than half of my students come from low-income families so their life experiences may be very different than other kindergarten and first grade students. My students deserve the best education I can provide and with your help, I will have the resources to do so!

My Project

The learning tools that my students are asking for will allow me to differentiate our literacy time work based on different students levels. Every student learns individually. As a special educator I find different ways to teach my students. The VersaTiles kits for literacy will help them be successful in phonemic awareness and decoding.

Hands-2-mind VersaTiles is a fun, "hands-on" way for students to learn how to read.

Many young learners need hands-on learning activities to really stay focused on their learning. My students will enjoy getting to use these new center materials while collaborating with their peers. Students manipulate the tiles, creating patterns to check their work, while they challenge and grow their thinking. Students will be able to advance through the lessons at their own pace, making their learning relevant and individualized. They won't even know they are learning while having fun too! These centers will be great for my kindergarten and first grade students to become life-long learners! Thank you in advance for helping me provide the best educational experience for my very deserving students.
