Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school located in South Central Los Angeles. My students are excited to learn and come to school with such wonder and awe about the new things they will learn. My students come from low-income families. Many of my parents do not speak English and struggle to help their child academically. One hundred percent of the students at our school receive free or reduced-price meals. I have a wide range of learners including students with special needs. My students are amazing life-long learners who are excited to come to school every day.
My Project
My project will allow my students to use hands on manipulatives and activities to work not only academic skills but also their fine motor skills.
With the increased use of technology, such as tablets many of my students are not adequately using their fine motor skills.
Fine motor skills are the coordination of small muscles, in movements such as pinching, tweezing, building, connecting items and building with objects using their hands, fingers and eyes.
My project will not only have my students use their fine motor skills but also work on academic skills such as counting, letter identification and shapes.
