Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in South Central Los Angeles. My students are excited to learn and come to school with such wonder and awe about the new things they will learn. My students come from low-income families. Many of my parents do not speak English and struggle to help their child academically. About ninety percent of the students at our school receive free or reduced-price meals. My students are amazing life-long learners who are excited to come to school everyday.
My Project
My classroom does not have any type of magnetic boards for my students to use. As a teacher I also do not have a magnetic board. My student need a fun, engaging and creative way to build words and sentences. One way to accomplish this is buy using magnetic letters on a magnetic board. Students will use fine motor skills and their letter-sound identification skills to build words and sentences. My students will also learn to cooperate with each other and work as team when using the magnetic board and letters. Students will also learn how to care for classroom supplies.
