Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our ICT kindergarten consists of 25 children with mixed interests, abilities, and goals. My students are full of energy and love to move around, learn new games, and boogie to a sweet tune. They have many strengths that are encouraged in the classroom. They are creative and loving and eager to learn. Hands-on activities will greatly benefit them and help build the foundation they need in order to succeed this year and in the future.
I have no control over their home lives but I can control their experiences during the school day and provide stimulating and differentiated pathways for them to learn.
My students come from very low income families and have a lot of difficulty purchasing even the basic necessities for the classroom, such as pencils, crayons, markers, paper, tissues, etc. Despite the many challenges my students face, I try and provide a caring and nurturing environment where students can develop as lifelong learners and gain meaningful experiences. I am hopeful that this environment will make a difference.

My Project
Our students look forward to Center Time every day. We love watching them learn and grow while working collaboratively with their classmates. We are always looking for new and exciting activities to implement into Center Time. When we came across these center activities, we thought they would be perfect! These activities will help us create new centers for my class.
We will be better able to differentiate and reach all of our students, especially our struggling learners.
These children don’t all have the opportunity to practice their letters and phonics at home, so we will try to give them several opportunities throughout the day to practice their letters and phonics skills using the games from this project. By giving them every chance we can to learn and have fun while doing so, we hope to create a solid foundation for them to build upon in the years to come.
