My students need hands-on materials, trays, and games (patterning, sorting, counting, graphing, adding, measuring, etc.) to use daily at Math Work Stations.
I teach full day kindergarten to 21 wonderful, eager to learn children. My class consists of children of varying cultures, backgrounds, and ability levels.
My students love participating in math work stations each day. These work stations give students an opportunity to practice and review skills we have learned in class with a partner. While students are working at their work stations, I pull students in small groups to remediate, review, or enrich skills specific to their needs. I am requesting hands-on materials for work stations through this project. Some of the skills and standards that these materials help the children learn are patterning, sorting, graphing, adding, subtracting, measuring, etc.). These materials are in the form of complete kits that are kid friendly with exciting, fun materials for them to use to learn important math skills.
The biggest obstacle I am facing is that students need materials that they can use independently without the help of an adult to give directions. The materials I am requesting have picture directions that are easy to understand. These materials will allow my students to practice many different math skills and standards (patterning, graphing, sorting, counting, adding, subtracting, etc.). These materials can be used in many different ways (whole group, small group, independently) and can be used for many years to come. This project can also be used during parent nights. The materials can be used to show parents what and how we are learning math skills in class.
Your donation will make it possible for my students to experience learning math in a fun and meaningful way. My students love participating in math work stations each day and they would be thrilled to have new materials to use. Your help will make sure my students continue to enjoy math. Your donation will help provide the excitement that I want my students to have while learning math.
