My Project

I am a third grade teacher who will be moving to a new school next school year. I will still be teaching third grade, but I will not be able to take all of my resources with me since they belong to the school. My new school does not have these fraction bars as a resource. I will be teaching a diverse group of scholars at a Title I school. I want to make sure I have the proper resources to engage my students in learning fractions using hands-on resources that have been beneficial for my current third graders.

Fractions, specifically equivalent fractions, are a difficult concept for students to learn without being able to physically manipulate the pieces.

The fraction bars that I am asking you to help me fund are great for showing students how each piece is part of a whole and how to find fractions that are equivalent by taking apart and putting together pieces of different fraction bars. My ECE and ESL students thrive when they have visuals and hands-on activities to help them understand a new concept.

Please consider helping to support my students and my teaching by funding a resource that supports student learning of fractions.
