Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
About 75% of my students come from a low socioeconomic household and they all are from different walks of life. While they might be different from one another, they all want a comfortable and safe classroom to learn. Their excitement for learning is exhibited daily, as is their support for their peers.
My students love having the opportunity to take ownership of their learning.
I will have about 100 students this year that differ in many ways; many of which have special education, 504, and ESL qualifications. I want my students to immediately feel comfortable and safe when they come in my classroom. I want my students to know that math is important!
My Project
At the beginning of the year, we started flexible seating in my classroom. We had inflatable chairs, a bean bag, beach chairs, and bungee cords on the desks. The kids have loved the bean bag, beach chairs, and bungee cords. I have asked the kids what they would like to see in my classroom and these are the ideas they have given me.
I have seen a tremendous change in my students with the use of flexible seating.
The focus and retention level of my students by simply changing their seat is phenomenal! By donating to this project, you are making a difference in the future of our community!
