Fun With Fairy Tales!

Help me give my students fairy tale books in both classic and fractured fairy tale versions!

My Students

Our tiny, rural, Title I school is located in Central New York. My students come from a very tight-knit community, in which most of the families have lived for generations. Despite our small size, we have a diverse population and students come from all different backgrounds and experiences.

My students are inquisitive and creative!

It is so important to me to able to provide engaging experiences for my 17 first graders. My students have a true love of learning. I sincerely appreciate your consideration in supporting my students and our classroom. Thank you so much!

My Project

Fairy tales are great for guiding students to retell stories, compare and contrast different versions, to identify setting and plot, and sequencing! These fairy tales will be such a valuable addition to our classroom. Not only will they enhance our library, but they will also be used for thematic lessons, and for our story retelling center.

I have big dreams of building a story center that includes familiar stories like these fairy tales - which include both classic and fractured fairy tales, puppets, magnets, and felt figures, in which students can orally retell well loved stories.

Including the fractured fairy tales not only allows students to compare and contrast texts to other texts, but also helps to inspire stories of their own! I can't wait to see all of the ways my students use these fairy tales to retell, sequence, spin their own stories, and maybe even act out the stories with a friend! The possibilities are endless with these familiar, and almost familiar tales!
