The special education preschool is moving to a new location once again. Several schools in our district were damaged, so we will be in modular classrooms because another school is taking over our old building. Let's make the new classrooms fun and exciting for our little preschool students!
My students are special needs students that are ages 3 to 5 years old.
They attend a three-hour preschool where we work on all aspects of child development. Many of the students that attend our program have special needs such as hearing and vision impairments, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, etc. These disabilities often require additional personnel and materials in order for them to function in a classroom environment.
My Project
This project is mostly manipulatives for my students to play with and explore during center time. These materials will help my students with their cognitive and fine and gross motor skills. We need puzzles to put together and blocks to stack and knock down. Some of the puzzles in this project have pegs on them for my students that have trouble picking up puzzle pieces. I am asking for soft blocks for the children that aren't able to play with the small plastic blocks and Lego blocks for the children that enjoy building houses and barns for the animals.
I serve students in a high poverty area.
These children are often at-risk for educational delays. I want to provide the most educationally-rich and exciting environment possible for the special education preschool students.
