Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are from a vibrant region in the state of Florida that takes pride in its rich, Latino cultural heritage. Because of this, our population is made up of many English Language Learners. It is up to us to make sure they get the best education they deserve. My students are young, ambitious and curious. They work together as a team to achieve common goals. They are supportive of their classmates and celebrate the successes of their peers. They are a hardworking group of students who display excitement and enthusiasm toward learning.
Our philosophy is: If you can believe it you can achieve it!
Our school is a Title I Renaissance school. The majority of our students are from low-income families, which is reflected by our 91% free or reduced-price lunch status. Although my kids face socioeconomic challenges, they come to school every day willing to learn. My greatest satisfaction is when I see students achieve at their highest potential because we believed in them and now I am asking for you to believe in them by supporting this project.
My Project
The parents of my students are more concerned about providing their children with day to day necessities. Providing my students with what they need for school is one way of being part of our school initiative of being a community school. I do not want my students coming to school and worrying about not having the materials that they need to be successful.
In Kindergarten, almost everything we do requires hands-on learning.
For this reason, I have included various supplies like construction paper, paint, glitter glue, and basic supplies so they can learn through expressing their creativity. For example, when we learn about a letter, they create things that begin with that letter.
This project will truly make a difference in our classroom! We will be able to focus more on our academic achievement and less on having school supplies. We will be able to grow to our fullest academic potential because we will have all the things that we need for a successful school year.
