This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am thrilled to be teaching math and science to my incredible sixth graders this year! These are my favorite subjects, and I just love this age group. My students are enthusiastic about learning new things and are full of energy!
Our school has a spectacular staff and incredible community support.
Even though we are located in a low socioeconomic area, it is clear that parents want the best for their children by their active involvement.
My students face many daily challenges, as many come from foster homes or might be experiencing homelessness. However, they always come to school with dazzling smiles, ready to have fun learning!
This is going to be an amazing school year because so much has changed. It was difficult to transition to distance learning as neither staff nor families were prepared. Now, we are ready and our students are eager to start learning online. It will look so much different, but I am confident that we will all do our very best.
My Project
As we continue the school year through distance learning, I feel like my students are teaching me so much more about technology than I am teaching them! It has been such an adventure!
My sixth graders have had to make many adjustments during this crazy time in the world.
It is difficult for parents, children, and teachers to adapt to this new way of education. My students need motivation to log into class every period. I have found that they absolutely love earning virtual bucks and getting items in the mail!
I am requesting a variety of fun things that I can mail to students. Students love Mad Libs, so I would like to have a supply of various themed books. Additionally, they love Minecraft so I have found a few cute items for them to purchase with their earn virtual bucks. My sixth graders also enjoy playing card games with their siblings, so I have selected several fun ones including Uno and Phase 10. Having these items will motivate my students to attend Zoom classes and earn virtual bucks during a unit on financial literacy.
