Help me give my students flexible seating. We work so hard and I want to give them more choices about how they work. One way to do that is by giving them a choice of where they sit.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten class is full of students who are not only learning about school, how to read and how to write, but they are learning English as well.
We start the year barely being able to understand each other and finish the year with readers, writers and English speakers.
Most of my class did not know their ABC's when they started in August and because of our hard work they are now reading and writing and are bilingual. While we do have a lot of fun, we also work very hard. My class knows it's okay to make mistakes but lack of effort is not okay. Our room is full of students who are constantly being challenged and whose minds are growing.
Things that make our day easier are exciting tools and games that help us learn without it feeling like work. I know that if I can get our students to love learning they will be successful in school for the rest of their academic career. Teaching really is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.
My Project
Our students come from homes where they don't get to make very many choices. The clothes they wear are just the ones that fit. The supplies they get are just the ones donated. The food they eat is what they have. Our students need the opportunity to make more choices and flexible seating in our room will give them options and choices.
Flexible seating will make learning more engaging and fun.
After all, who really wants to sit in a chair all day? I plan to have a table for standing, a taller table for stools, two tables for wobble cushions to kneel at and bouncy balls for students to use with clipboards.
