We are a class of 18 diverse people working together as a community of learners. Many of the students in my class are Portuguese speaking and together we are all learning to listen, speak, read and write. They are eager to learn, and we are doing our best to create an environment that enables all of the students to be and do their best.
This year, due to Covid-19 the classroom will look very different.
The students are expected to sit at their own desks all day, and not share materials. This is very difficult for little ones! They are used to sharing, moving around, and working together. In order to make the classroom more kid friendly, while maintaining our social distance, we need alternative seating, and individual learning materials.
My Project
Students will use the wiggle stools as an alternate to their traditional chairs. Students will be more engaged in their learning when given a choice for seating.
Using a lap desk is another chance for students to work while keeping their "distance".
Since we can't share materials, students will have their own "tool box", to help make individual learning more exciting. In their tool box, they will have markers, crayons, and stem materials for students to use during center time. The tool box can travel back and forth with students and can be used at home during hybrid learning on their remote week of learning.
