Have you ever thought about a time when you could not read? What about all the things you have to read every day? When you think about it, we are constantly reading. In Kindergarten children are taught how to read.
My students have grown so much this year.
They have really come to love reading. They ask me when we are going to have silent reading time. It brings a smile to my face when they run to get their book boxes and find a comfy spot around the room to read.
My Project
The games and puzzles in this project will help strengthen my students reading skills and strategies. Being able to get hints from picture clues, sounding out words, and being able to "flip" the vowel sounds while sounding out words are all strategies that have been taught to them. Using these puzzles and games will reinforce those strategies and turn my students into better readers.
My students need to be at a level C in reading by the end of the year.
Most are still at an A. These puzzles and games will give them a different outlook on the strategies they have learned and hopefully that light bulb will go off. Once it does, they will be reading at a level C (and hopefully higher, I have high goals for all of them) by the end of the year. By funding this project you will help my students become lifelong readers.
