This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My children are very special. They are so special they receive special education services. They are a great bunch of kids. We meet in small groups so that others don't interrupt our thinking.

My children come from homes that are very caring but have very limited economic possibilities.

We are a Title I school. This means that in their homes their resources are limited and their income is below the poverty line. This situation does not stop them from being eager to learn and having positive outlooks on life.

My Project

These phonics games will help my special needs students learn their letter sounds and word patterns. Currently in my special needs groups I have fifth graders who are unable to read due to their minimal phonetic awareness. These games will help them learn their word patterns in a fun and nonjudgmental way. Through the use of these games we can work with letter sounds and have fun while doing so.

With these games my special needs students will be able to learn the letters sounds using different modalities and having fun.

This is a win win situation. My students' confidence and engagement will increase as they play these games.
