Despite some of the hardships our students have faced, students at our elementary school show up ready to learn every day. Fifty percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and many are English language learners.
Our students work all year long on expanding their problem-solving skills through creative thinking and trial and error.
We focus on teaching thematic units, integrating reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Our students are so much more engaged in their learning when we can connect the standards and curriculum to hands-on projects.
Our students love to work in small groups and play games to solidify their understanding of concepts. We try and create activities that are enticing and engaging. This color toner will be used by the first grade team to print activities to support our learning in phonics, math, and science. We also try to laminate our centers to make them reusable year after year!
These colored, laminated centers are a great way for students to practice skills and strengthen their understanding of concepts in all subject areas.
Our hope is to build a collection of activities and games so students can choose how they would like to practice a given skill.
