Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Young learners often struggle with abstract mathematical concepts. By incorporating hands-on tools like star-shaped counters and whiteboards, students can physically manipulate objects to see how numbers combine and separate. These resources will provide a concrete foundation for understanding addition and subtraction, helping students visualize mathematical operations and build number sense. Using whiteboards to write word problems allows students to express their thinking, reinforcing literacy skills alongside math comprehension. My students are inquisitive, creative, and eager to learn. Many are bilingual learners navigating the challenge of mastering both English and Spanish while building foundational academic skills. They come from diverse cultural backgrounds, bringing unique perspectives and experiences to the classroom. Despite facing challenges, they are resilient and thrive when given the right tools and support. By providing engaging, hands-on materials, I can help make learning more accessible and enjoyable for every student.
