My Students
The students in my classroom come from all backgrounds and learning abilities. My students are a mix of students that learn in a typical way and students with higher needs including physical disabilities and children with autism. My students are all very busy and love to learn through traditional methods but also learn through sensory experiences. Our classroom is very hands on, and I love to give my students the opportunity to learn in the way they prefer and what engages them with each activity introduced.
Each day my students come to school enthusiastic and ready to learn and grow together.
The main focus in the classroom is relationship building and creating a supportive community for all children and their families. My classroom is the foundation and usually the first experience children have in school so we create a safe and supportive environment that is fun and full of learning.
My Project
These materials will be used to accommodate the different learners in my class. I have varying abilities and learners, and being able to have a standing easel will help the students that do not like to sit and do art learn to explore different mediums standing up. The other materials will be used to help improve fine motor skills. The sound puzzle will get the student's attention while working on these very important skills.
Each child learns differently, so the materials in the classroom should reflect all learners.
Circle time is often a difficult time for children who do not want to sit for an extended period of time. The bilbo chair and weighted dolphin will help these children learn this skill and help with their sensory needs.
