Many have been greatly impacted by being virtual, due to Covid, when so many coping strategies were taught. These tools have helped them catch up in so many different ways. The sensory items have been instrumental in helping students regulate first so they can then complete their work. They are quickly learning which tools work best for them at which times. They are applying these skills more and more in their classrooms so they are rarely missing instruction now. This is critical as missing instruction puts them further behind. \r\n\r\nI work with students who are identified as gifted and talented and so many also struggle with overexcitabilities. A student recently said that the weighted stuffed animal allows her to feel where her body is, while some of their fidgets, she specifically mentioned a fidget spinner, just distract her. She loves the marble mazes, however, as they allow her to move the marble through the maze and doesn't need to watch it - she said it wasn't very exciting - but having her hands engaged allows her \"brain to get busy and learn!\" Another student is so happy to have the foot fidget stretchy band on her chair as she does not feel she listens without it. There are also so many different tools we received as a result of your generosity that kids can use regularly at their desks. \r\n\r\nThese kids missed a lot of the social and emotional management of in person school during Covid and now they have a wonderful supply of different tools to try and see what works best for them. Regulation is probably the most important skill we can help students learn because if they are not regulated, they just can't focus or take in information. \r\n\r\nWords do not truly convey the appreciation we feel towards you as we see students using these tools and showing more success academically and social/emotionally!","fullyFundedDate":1723087167041,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-tools-to-aid-learning/8560291/","projectTitle":"Sensory Tools to Aid Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Casey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9239930"},{"teacherId":9634359,"projectId":8598034,"letterContent":"Your generosity has truly transformed our learning space!
