My Students

I teach a special needs, self-contained classroom in high school. Not everyone in my class knows how to work a computer independently, and a lot of them work better with manipulatives and hard, tangible materials used for lessons.

I sincerely believe that the population of kids with special needs had taken the biggest educational blow in the course of this pandemic.

It would be helpful for my students to have a complete set of materials that are normally available to them in school, but this time, in the comfort of their own homes.

My Project

My students may not have the art materials and sensory materials that we use in the classroom in their homes. With the uncertainty of schools reopening, even for fall, I would like to keep on stimulating their brains and make sure that learning will not regress. Having their own materials at home will help them remember and keep what they have worked hard for in school. These materials will encourage creativity and well-roundedness, and will certainly make it easier for them to navigate in this challenging time of their educational experience.
