Help me give my students the tools that they need for academic and social purposes. Many students also need support refining their fine motor skills, which many of these activities will support!
In my classroom, there is a wide variety of students with different learning needs. Students enter a classroom where they feel safe and excited to learn and explore! Each child is loved and appreciated for who they are and their uniqueness in which they bring to the classroom environment!
Although these resources will be used primarily in my classroom, all of the first graders will benefit from access to all of the material through our walk to read intervention program!
My Project
Students in my class need materials to support their learning and social skills. Through these materials, students will be able to explore with hands on manipulatives, art projects and games that will help them grow as learners.
Our school uses a daily 5 model, where students are working independently while I am teaching small groups.
With these materials, students will be able to continue their independent and small group learning through sight word games, handwriting and reading. The math and reading games that I have included in this project will help students learn their sight words and math facts. The 9-sided dice will be used for many learning and math games. The pocket charts will be used to organize my reading groups so that students have a visual of where they will be and what is expected of them during that time.
Many of my students are still building strength for fine motor skills. I have included some activities in my project that will help them build these skills and meet the needs of my students with special needs. The wobble chair will help my student that needs to move in order to focus. The magna-tiles will be a great STEM resource for students to help them increase their critical thinking and team work skills through hands-on learning.
To help build a positive classroom environment, I believe in positive reinforcements and building relationships. The stickers will be used daily as a positive reinforcement for all students in their sticker chart. The birthday bracelets help build a relationship with each student in a place where they feel they belong.
