it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every Friday, our entire school community looks forward to “Fun Fridays”, a weekly event where students gather to enjoy a treat, play games, and celebrate the end of the week together. These events are designed to boost attendance, create positive connections to school, and foster a strong sense of belonging. To make Fun Fridays even more exciting, we’re requesting a mini pancake maker and a cotton candy machine. These appliances will help us prepare fun and festive snacks that students love, making the experience both joyful and engaging.
Fun Fridays are not just about treats they’re also a great opportunity to bring learning to life.
In math class, students will use these materials to practice real-world math skills in a hands-on way. Whether they’re measuring ingredients, doubling recipes, calculating fractions, or estimating cooking times, they’ll be actively applying key math concepts. Students will also use math to manage raffle entries and calculate probabilities when drawing winners for the insulated water bottles. These interactive experiences help students see the relevance of math and build confidence through practical application.
To support all of this, we’re also requesting basic kitchen supplies like salt shakers, dish soap, soap dispensers, dishwashing brushes, and safe kitchen knives. These items will ensure we can prepare and clean up safely while involving students in the full process. Many of our students are kind, capable young people who just need a second chance and a little encouragement. With your support, we can make Fun Fridays not only fun, but meaningful, educational, and unforgettable.
